Historic Preservation Board formalizes nominations process and hears nomination for local historian Megan Copage

During the meeting a committee member nominated local researcher Megan Copage for recognition, saying, "She has been an integral part on doing a lot of research of the history of Klay County. . . she has not only provided her physical work at numerous cemeteries but done research," and asked that the board consider recognizing her work preserving sites including Solder, Mckendry and Pleasant Point.
Board members discussed the logistics of the nomination process — that nominees should provide background information via email to staff, that a board member would sponsor the nomination, and that the nomination would then be placed on the agenda for a vote. The board carried the procedural motion and asked staff to coordinate certificate production and communications outreach for any eventual honorees.
