The Harpswell Select Board approved several personnel and administrative actions during its meeting.
Parks and community services director Katie Neil recommended hiring Matthew Martin for the lands/landings monitor role after interviews with select board member and harbor master Matt Gilly and others; the board moved and voice‑approved the hire. Martin's background includes environmental stewardship internships and GIS skills, which staff said will be useful for monitoring landings and stewardship work.
Separately, the board approved hiring Frank TR as interim fire administrator following interviews; staff said Frank has prior experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs and national fire programs and longstanding volunteer service with local fire and rescue since 1989.
The board accepted a $5,000 donation from Peter and Sandra Guile to the town's fire and EMS department in memory of longtime community member Mike Drake. The donors suggested the funds be used for training, and the board discussed directing the gift toward training needs.
The board also appointed a slate of election workers for the upcoming June 9 election as requested by the town clerk; the names were read into the record and the appointments were approved by voice vote.
Each motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the transcript records 'all in favor' but does not provide a roll‑call tally.
