Storytime Child Care Center reports enrollment growth and facility plans to Story County Board

Representatives from Storytime Child Care Center updated the Story County Board on June 2, reporting enrollment gains, staff pay increases and short-term capital plans aimed at improving safety and operations.
Interim director Mandy Lindamone said, "We are in a far more stable place than we were," and reported enrollment climbed from 24 children a year ago to 37 today. Lindamone said the center employs nine staff—five full-time and four part-time—and that the program recently raised starting pay and awarded non-management staff meaningful wage increases to improve retention.
Lindamone and interim assistant director Susie Rhodess described phased capital projects including a phase-two playground grant that will add equipment and rubber mulch and a separate grant to restore in-house laundry capabilities. The pair said the center’s next major goal is replacing an aging fence to enhance safety and durability; that project remains planned but not yet funded.
On openings, the center reported no formal wait list but said it has space for four-year-old and school-age children. The presenters asked for continued county partnership to support long-term sustainability; no county funding action was taken at the meeting.
