Story County receives bids for Shrek Water Trail access and conservation-area project

Story County officials opened sealed bids June 2 for two county infrastructure projects and said staff will review the submissions before recommending contract awards.
For the Shrek Water Trail Access Improvement project, two bids were read into the record: Hands-On Excavation submitted $149,554.60 and Gerky Inc. of Eldora submitted $161,565.25. For the Deputy Family Conservation Area project multiple bids were recorded, with staff reading Caliber Concrete LLC’s bid at $377,370.65, GTG Construction at $375,653.77, Woodruff Construction at $502,300 and HPC LLC at approximately $422,232. Staff confirmed that bid bonds and bidder-identity forms were included for all submissions.
A county representative told the Board that the bids and related documents will be reviewed and that staff will return with a formal recommendation on award. No contract awards were made at the meeting.
Next steps: procurement staff will review compliance with addenda and bidder qualification documents and bring an award recommendation to the Board at a later meeting.
The bid opening was conducted as part of the Board’s routine agenda; no objections or challenges to the bid openings were made at the meeting.
