Madison County honors retiring MCCSA executive director Dr. Mary Sims Johnson and names successor

The Madison County Board of Supervisors on May 18 adopted a resolution honoring Dr. Mary Sims Johnson for 17 years of leadership as executive director of the Madison County Citizens Services Agency (MCCSA).
Maudice Hawkins, assistant comptroller and the speaker who read the resolution, noted Dr. Johnson’s retirement date, service length and the agency’s impact under her leadership. The board unanimously carried the resolution and said it would be included in the permanent minutes.
Dr. Mary Sims Johnson spoke to the board, thanked supervisors and agency staff, and described the experience as "bittersweet." "I am most humbled," she said, adding that she looks forward to retirement while remaining available to support MCCSA.
Tim, speaking for the Madison County Citizens Services Board of Directors, praised Dr. Johnson’s leadership and introduced board members. The board also introduced Sierra Draine Kelly as Dr. Johnson’s successor; Kelly told supervisors she was "elated" to have been selected and pledged to continue the agency’s work.
The board voted to appoint Dr. Johnson to the Central Mississippi Planning and Development Board as a further role she will hold following retirement.
