Commissioners approve purchase of two 2026 Ford interceptors to replace aging sheriff vehicles

Greg Eckler described the replacements: car five (a 2014 Dodge Charger with 143,000 miles and about 5,300 engine hours; engine equivalent ~176,000 miles) and car 14 (a 2017 Police Interceptor SUV with 184,000 miles and about 9,800 engine hours; engine equivalent ~323,000 miles). He said both replacement vehicles are budgeted at $68,542 each and that the capital project team confirmed the vehicles had been maintained per schedule.
A commissioner moved, seconded and the board approved the purchases. Staff noted the replacements were budgeted in the capital plan.
