Brimfield trustees hear zoning commission, road department updates and approve hosting a veterans observance

Trustees heard reports from the zoning, road and cemetery liaisons and approved a request to host a PMIA observance by a veterans logistics group.

Zoning: the zoning commission is drafting restrictions for data centers and recommended removing a high‑density open‑space conservation provision; a public hearing was set for June 10 to consider that change. The commission also reviewed limited survey responses from agricultural property owners in R3 and R4 districts.

Roads: the road superintendent reported a major failure on Buckeye Boulevard caused by a separated storm sewer pipe that created a sinkhole; county engineers will advise whether to replace roughly 100 feet of pipe or repair a settled area. The department plans to submit an Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) grant application in 2027 for How Road improvements (Sunny Brook Road to the township line) and may add Willowbrook Road to this year’s work to get better pricing. Due to several emergency repairs, routine chip‑and‑seal work is likely to be delayed until project costs are clearer.

Community events and cemetery: the board approved hosting an observance program on Sept. 18 for a veterans organization under a no‑cost rental agreement and recapped a Memorial Day program where volunteers placed about 600 flags on veterans’ graves. Trustees encouraged greater resident participation for future commemorations.

Next steps: the township will post project updates to the new website when available, pursue OPWC grant timing with the county engineer, and finalize details with the veterans group as event plans solidify.
