And so he explained from his lens why it was so beneficial for him personally," she said. She added, "With your support, we know that this is going to be an excellent program for our entire community."
Staff explained Special Olympics Pennsylvania provides a $750 stipend for the first year and a liaison who helps train participants and supply basic equipment; Mrs. Scott volunteered to serve as the initial coach. Board members asked about facility logistics, scheduling during the district's flex period, and whether the program would eventually compete with other schools; staff said internal play is likely first, with potential interscholastic matches later.
The committee confirmed it will add the unified bocci program to the agenda at the next full‑board meeting for consideration.
