Bowling Green commissioners approve routine appointments, contracts and park improvements

Personnel and appointments: The commission approved the promotion of Alana Claywell to communications dispatcher supervisor in the police department and the probationary appointments of Joseph Jessup (crew leader, Parks & Recreation) and Curtis Johnson (community center coordinator, Parks & Recreation). Several board and commission reappointments and appointments were also approved, including positions on the planning commission, the city–county board of adjustments, the audit committee, the historic preservation board and the local board of property tax appeals.
Contracts and capital projects: Commissioners approved a contract to Baker Contracting LLC for concrete pad and sidewalk installation at Pedigo Park (for a recessed tile court installation) and approved a one‑year renewal of janitorial services with JNF Janitorial Services, Inc. covering multiple municipal facilities (not to exceed $355,600). Staff noted the Pedigo Park court is intended to add neighborhood recreation options and that site drainage work had been addressed prior to award.
Events and leases: The commission authorized lease agreements and fee waivers for the Bowling Green International Festival (Sept. 25–26, 2026) and for a series of "Concerts in the Park" with Arts of Southern Kentucky / Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center. Commissioners and staff noted sponsorship considerations and operational costs such as policing and restroom access.
Votes at a glance: Multiple municipal order numbers were approved by roll call (2026‑120 through 2026‑133 and related items); staff will publish individual vote records in the official meeting minutes.
