Student liaison presents anti‑bullying survey and joins county youth leadership program

Emmanuel Diener, a student liaison, told the board April 15 she has developed a bullying survey to identify where bullying is most acute and how it varies by grade and gender. Diener said she was accepted into 'Youth Time to Shine,' a Monmouth County leadership program connected with NJ Forest Compass that provides education on bullying, tobacco use and mental health. She told the board she will continue to email district administrators about the project after she graduates and asked whether it could be extended to elementary students.
Board members praised the initiative. One member recommended piloting the program at Cedar Drive Middle School, then expanding to elementary grades if successful; another noted an elementary leadership program is already being planned and suggested collaboration to make early prevention part of the district’s strategy.
Next steps: Administration and board said they will continue to work with Diener and staff on the survey rollout and consider elementary expansion and after‑school leadership offerings.
