County Council Member Tim Adams told the Buoie City Council on June 1 that the county budget includes targeted funding for multiple Buoie projects.
"We secured $350,000 for Allen Pond Park," Adams said, and then listed further allocations: $250,000 for an aquatic-center feasibility study, $250,000 toward a gymnasium, $1 million to support recreational investments tied to the golf driving range and Buoie Ice Arena, and two $200,000 planning grants for the Buoie Town Center and underutilized parcels along Racetrack Road and Church Road. Adams characterized the allocations as representing "approximately 2.25 million in county funding for Buoie priorities."
Adams said the investments reflect priorities raised by city leadership, residents and community stakeholders and thanked Buoie officials and residents for their advocacy. City officials on the dais thanked Adams for the report and for his work on behalf of Buoie.
What happens next: Adams's update was informational; funding decisions documented in county budget materials will determine the timing and scope of each project.
Why it matters: The packages aim to support park maintenance and upgrades, feasibility work for an aquatic facility, expanded indoor recreation and planning work meant to position the Buoie Town Center and other properties for future investment.
