At the June 2 meeting of the Laguna Niguel City Council, Ken Olri (introduced as Kevin/Ken during the meeting) told the council that ongoing remodeling at an adjacent property has caused severe vibrations through a shared party wall. Olri asked the council to direct staff to provide a construction timeline, restore the party wall, stop the vibrations immediately, and enforce Building Code Chapter 33.
Olri described property and health impacts: he said the vibrations “have knocked our 20 foot high mirror loose from the wall,” that his wife (Kathy Olri) is disabled and recovering from surgeries, and that their parrot died around Memorial Day; he also referenced an exhibit he had handed out about health effects from construction vibrations. Olri alleged the city building inspector visited the site and told the contractor to continue work, saying, "Go ahead," and that the inspector did not express concern about the vibration impacts on their mirror or his wife’s health.
The council did not take action on the spot; the public comment was recorded, the clerk accepted any submitted exhibits, and Olri asked that staff provide a timeline and enforce building code for party walls. No staff response or corrective action was reported during the meeting. The transcript shows the speaker corrected his name from Kevin to Ken during his remarks.
