Christa Milano, an East Vincent Township resident, used the public‑comment portion of the June 24 meeting to press the Owen J. Roberts School District board for assurances about the hiring process for the head girls lacrosse coach.
Milano said the coaching vacancy for the girls lacrosse program, posted externally on May 21, 2024, had not yet been filled as of her comments and asked whether a legitimate search committee is in place and whether past mistakes will be avoided. "I'm requesting that the board provide assurances to stakeholders of the district that a legitimate search for an appropriate head girls coach occur, not just a paper shuffle of inappropriate internal candidates and parent coaches," she said.
She and other commenters tied the coaching concerns to broader supervision and Title IX responsibilities, arguing that athletic oversight — including the roles of the athletic director and high‑school principal — should ensure continuity and protection of team momentum after the program's recent state championship season. Board members asked administration to provide an update on the search process (including any parent meetings and the composition of a search committee) and asked that details be provided in BoardDocs/Boardline for review.
There was no formal vote tied to Milano's comment; the board committed to follow up and to provide administration updates at a future meeting.
The board also discussed forming an ad hoc committee during summer goal‑setting to address several concerns raised in public comments.
