During public comment at the June 1 meeting, resident Lloyd Phillips of 526 West 6th asked the city to reconsider a newly installed four‑way stop at 6th Street and 5th Avenue.
Phillips said neighbors were not alerted before signs were placed and that many did not know about the change until they encountered the signs. He described increased noise from stopping and starting vehicles and said drivers now "race up there and revving engines," raising concerns about property values and quality of life. Phillips also said his driveway empties very near the intersection and that backing out has become more confusing and hazardous since the sign went in.
He asked whether city staff or traffic engineers had reviewed the intersection before installation and requested that the city take a look and consider options, including removal of the stop sign. The mayor thanked Mr. Phillips for bringing the concern to council; no formal referral or action on the item was recorded in the meeting minutes.
The comment was recorded during the public‑comment period; the council did not take immediate action on the request at that meeting.
