The board also adopted Ordinance 1064 to accept Oakland View Estates and Ordinance 1065 to rezone a parcel off Old Athens Pike from R2 to C3; both measures passed on roll-call votes with no recorded nays.
Lease authorization: The board voted to authorize city staff (Jessica) to execute a lease with Eric and Judy Hicks for a Main Street parcel at $2,000 annually. Discussion noted the property is listed for sale and the city intends short-term use for overflow parking at community events; the motion carried with one opposing vote.
Traffic-signal grant: Council authorized execution of a TDOT grant to modernize the traffic signal at North and Main; TDOT will handle bidding, contracting and construction and the city will assume maintenance of the upgraded signal. City staff said the grant requires no local match.
April bill payments: The recorder reviewed the April distributions and highlighted several items: Axon Enterprise payment of approximately $71,182.68 for body-worn cameras and tasers; a payment of about $180,270.25 to Sweetwater Utilities Board tied to an ARP grant reimbursed through the state; DWR Aquatics payout $76,475 for the pool project; McKay Southern Generators payment $48,148.49 for a generator purchased with grant funding; and other routine payments for materials, grants and services.
