Friendswood City Council approved an ordinance to change the zoning classification of a 2.4367-acre tract at 2350 South Friendswood Drive from single-family residential to community shopping center, moving the item after a public hearing in which no members of the public spoke.
Planning staff member Aubrey Harbin said the request aligns with the city's future land‑use map and noted that future development would require a platting action. After the public hearing closed, council moved and seconded the ordinance and approved it by voice vote.
The planning and zoning commission had forwarded a positive recommendation after its May 14 public hearing, and staff noted that replatting will be required to accommodate the site's future development.
