Detective Sills, accepting the award, described the department’s approach to victims and investigations and thanked city leadership and family support. "We developed intelligence. We acted quickly. And we used the resources available to us," Sills said, noting that returning the recovered gold to a victim was a highlight of the investigation.
Council and the mayor recognized the detective and the broader department for teamwork; attendees rose for a group photo after the presentation.
