The board moved (Steve) and seconded (Scott) to acknowledge the resignation and to allow the sheriff's office to advertise for the open full-time dispatcher/jailer position; the motions carried by voice vote. During discussion the sheriff noted the office aims to maintain a minimum staffing level of six to cover shifts and suggested potential future options could include shared dispatch services with neighboring counties or joining a state dispatch center, though no formal decision was made.
The board directed the sheriff to advertise the opening and return with candidate recommendations. The board also asked staff to include a motion detail when returning on personnel status changes so the county record reflects part-time retention where applicable.
