Melissa also reported that Valvoline's work is nearly complete; they had to install a utility trench in the buffer and remain responsible for mitigation for a small number of trees that were removed. The open pit at 45 Southville remains a public-safety concern; the homeowner has contracted a septic professional and staff are monitoring progress to close the issue. Melissa said she expects several new applications at the next meeting, including a Newton Street garage/ADU and two Eagle Scout projects to replace small footbridges on town trails.
Commissioners asked about fines and the status of follow-up enforcement; Melissa said she would confirm whether daily fines are still accumulating and follow up with town counsel and the commission when she has that information.
