Stewart also announced a naming contest for a new riverfront park (resident submissions to be reviewed by staff), and he noted the village received a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association. He said the village did not increase its corporate property tax levy for the eighth straight year and reported an improved bond rating tied to a long-term capital plan that contemplates reduced debt service while pursuing projects such as village hall and police station upgrades.
On public safety staffing, Stewart said the village hired nine full‑time firefighters and three additional police officers in recent years and assigned an additional officer to special operations to focus on gang and drug activity; the village also added a community engagement position.
