Strafford County proclaims May ALS Awareness Month; board enters nonpublic session

The Strafford County Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted a proclamation April 23 declaring May as ALS Awareness Month following a request from Luke Haidok of Lee.

The chair read an email from Luke Haidok and described ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) as a progressive neurological disease that eventually impairs a person’s ability to walk, eat, talk and breathe; the chair noted local patients at Riverside who had suffered from the disease and said the county would affix its seal and return the proclamation to Luke Haidok. "Thanks again Luke for getting in touch with us," the chair said during the presentation.

Later in the meeting, the board approved a motion to enter a nonpublic session to discuss personnel issues and contract negotiations; the motion was seconded and a roll-call was taken as required for executive-session proceedings. Commissioner Feliciano’s roll-call vote was recorded during the process; the board proceeded into the nonpublic session.

No substantive decisions from the nonpublic session were reported in the public record at the close of the transcript; the motion to enter nonpublic session was the final recorded public action.
