Prosecutor repurposes victim-advocate office; furniture upgrade under $5,000, no new funds requested

Prosecutor Nick Atkins told the Board of Commissioners that the office adjacent to the prosecutor's reception area, traditionally used by victim advocates, is being repurposed into a more flexible work and meeting area for victim services. Atkins said the office will include a corner desk, hutch and lateral files for victim files and that he worked with Ritter's Office Outfitters to obtain a quote "about and just shy of $5,000" for furniture upgrades. He said a purchase order has already been submitted and that he was not requesting county funds for the purchase.
Atkins described the plan as an efficiency measure to better use existing space and said some upstairs attorney offices received replacement furniture that was repurposed downstairs. He asked the board to note the change and confirmed the office would continue to provide a work area for a victim advocate.
