Branford selectmen approve tax-appeal settlement, fireworks contract and Zambelli lease extension

Selectman Raymond Dunbar moved to approve the Kelleher settlement; Selectman Jeffrey E. Vailette seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The minutes record the settlement was approved but do not state the settlement amount.
On the fireworks contract, Selectman Dunbar moved to waive bidding and award the contract to American Fireworks in the amount of $35,000; First Selectman Joshua Brooks seconded. Selectman Vailette abstained; the motion otherwise carried.
The board also approved a Third Amendment to Lease with Zambelli Fireworks for an additional one-year extension for parcel A; the item will be referred to the RTM for legislative approval. The vote on the lease amendment was unanimous.
The meeting opened at 4:00 p.m., recessed briefly for executive session on pending tax appeals and reconvened; no votes were taken while in executive session. The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:15 p.m.
