Deputy Administrator Janice Keller explained the committee was being asked to approve a one-year interlocal agreement implementing joint city–county funding for the Wakom County Racial Equity Commission. "The city is maintaining its $100,000 contribution for 2026," Keller said.
Committee members expressed support for the commission's work and asked for a future presentation from commission leaders to review accomplishments and priorities. Deputy County Executive Kayla Shot Breler (speaking for county staff) confirmed the county remains committed but has been tapering direct financial support and is encouraging grant-seeking and fundraising to supplement operations.
A motion to approve the interlocal agreement was made and the committee recorded a 3–0 favorable committee vote; the item will be forwarded to the full council with the committee recommendation.
