Pennsauken swears in Officer Isaiah Rivera and promotes two officers to sergeant and lieutenant

Pennsauken officials on the evening hosted a swearing-in ceremony for a newly hired officer and promoted two members of the police department.
Public Safety Director Rafa introduced Officer Isaiah Rivera, who Chief Phil Olivo said was hired by the township police on April 4, 2025, entered the Camden County Police Academy on April 21, 2025 and graduated on Sept. 18, 2025. Rivera completed the department’s field-training program and was assigned to the patrol division; his mother, Leslie Perez, and uncle, Jared Delva, assisted in the oath.
Chief Phil Olivo also presented the promotions of Sergeant Timothy Morales and Lieutenant Richard Northern. The committee heard a summary of Morales’s assignments (patrol, traffic, suburban narcotics task force, then detective assignment) and that Morales was promoted to sergeant effective March 1, 2026. Chief Olivo described Northern’s work in the police department’s IT unit, including leading a records-management system migration to InfoShare and completing command-and-leadership training prior to his promotion to lieutenant.
Each officer took the oath of office in a public ceremony attended by family and fellow officers; officials invited the assembled officers to gather for a group photograph following the ceremony.
The committee publicly thanked the officers and their families for their service and commitment to the township.
