Assistant City Manager told the commission he is drafting a staff report to ask city council to extend the committee’s timeline (initially set to conclude at fiscal year end) and to add necessary budget modifications if the committee requests continuing staff support. "I can create a resolution asking to amend the current resolution and extend this group out until 2030," the assistant manager said, noting that extensions carry budget implications for stipends, chambers use and staff time.
Commissioners also asked for real-time editing tools (a projector and IT support) to speed their review. Staff said the city's IT staffing and union overtime rules limit after-hours IT support and cautioned about Brown Act obligations if commissioners display material the public cannot view; staff suggested a short-term workaround (bring a publicly visible portable projector) and said equipment and staffing can be included in budget requests.
The commission unanimously approved a motion to receive and file the handbooks. Staff will present a proposed extension and any budget modifications to the city council for consideration.
