Deputy Superintendent Dr. Amy Shindlewolf presented an annual update on June 1 reviewing phase‑one and phase‑two work and the district’s remaining commitments. The board previously allocated $4 million to support the five‑phase plan; about $1.6 million has been spent to date and roughly $2.4 million remains to support phases three through five, she said.
Phase‑two accomplishments and phase‑three priorities
Dr. Shindlewolf highlighted implementation of a grow‑your‑own program to recruit and train paraprofessionals into teacher residency roles, expansion of the Hope Squad peer‑support program to all junior highs and high schools, enhancements to the parent university program, early work on digital citizenship and cybersecurity standards, and preliminary Stopfinder safety implementation.
She described phase‑three priorities as expanding the grow‑your‑own cohorts, additional counseling and behavioral supports, digital citizenship and communication improvements, further safety and technology work, and continued curriculum and professional‑learning development. The administration noted some phase‑two budget amounts came back unspent because of conservative buffers that allowed money to return to the fund for later phases.
Board questions and next steps
Trustees asked for detail on the phase‑three request size and whether the district might reallocate returned funds; Dr. Shindlewolf said staff builds in modest buffers and works with strategy leads to avoid returning to the board for more money later. She also said the district investigated a single parent‑communications platform but will pause that approach while it refines interim communication improvements.
