Local high school robotics team showcases robot, asks city for outreach support

Team captain Maya, business lead Seth and fabrication lead Octavius described the team’s structure, community focus and competitive achievements: they said the team placed second in the Pacific Northwest and 16th in the world among thousands of teams. Students said the team raises about $80,000 annually, that a single robot generally costs about $15,000–$20,000 to build, and that district championship registration can be about $10,000.
Council members praised the students’ presentation, suggested outreach to the chamber of commerce and invited the team to participate in city events such as the annual parade. The council and staff acknowledged the program’s value for STEM pathways and workforce readiness and encouraged the team to connect with local companies and mentors.
