Commission schedules July 16 public meeting on conservation easements, approves minutes and records administrative updates

At the May 7 meeting the Meredith Conservation Commission scheduled a public meeting on proposed conservation easements for July 16, 5:30–7:00 p.m., at the Meredith Community Center with a simultaneous Zoom presentation; invitations will be sent to major landowners and Lakes Region Conservation Trust will assist with outreach.
The commission approved the April minutes on a motion by Mark Billings, seconded by Don MacFarlane; the motion carried with one abstention. The minutes record no treasurer's report was submitted.
Commissioners reported trail work and outreach: interpretive signs for stream restoration were placed at Stoney Brook and Waukewan Highlands, four trail days have addressed winter damage, and an upcoming guided bird walk at Page Pond Town Forest on May 9 had eight registrants. Member comments included a volunteer offering to clean a Leavitt Cemetery gravestone (to be coordinated with DPW and the cemetery committee), a Boy Scout camping and service-project request for a town forest, and a suggestion to consult Trout Unlimited about a possible stream restoration at Community Forest. In public comment, Town Planner Stephanie Maltais said the town requested an extension for re-delineation of the Hatch Brook Prime Wetland.
The commission set its next meeting for June 4, 2026 and adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
