City staff summarized second-reading budget adjustments at the Sept. 10 work session, including a $65,000 addition to the general fund carryover to purchase a vehicle for Special Operations and reported savings on equipment purchases.
Staff said the city purchased an excavator for $69,000 instead of a previously budgeted $91,000, freeing funds to cover other needs. Staff recommended replacing a planned grinder attachment with an approximately $20,000 bush-hog attachment and adding a $15,000 trailer to transport equipment. The purchase of a tractor for the waste treatment plant was discussed, and staff reported that, after these changes, the capital improvement plan (CIP) total was reduced, though the transcript contains an unclear line on the exact reduction.
Council members heard that local sales tax revenue remains strong and that some revenue sources are seasonal; staff said the changes did not materially increase the overall budget and offered to answer questions.
Staff closed the item by answering questions and the council recorded its votes on the associated ordinance items.
