The resolution cites his 17 years at St. George, leadership of a parish gardening program that donated more than 10,000 pounds of produce to the Tinley Park food pantry and parish participation in Habitat for Humanity projects.
Father Kenneth J. Fleck thanked the board and reflected on his vocation, saying he “felt called” to the priesthood and urging public servants to serve with faith and devotion. He closed his remarks with a prayer and “Amen.” Mayor Michael M. Glattz noted the village will provide copies of the resolution to Father Fleck, St. George Catholic Church and the Tinley Park Historical Society. The board’s action followed a read-aloud of Father Fleck’s biography and a motion to adopt the resolution, which the board approved by roll call.
The board also announced Father Fleck’s anniversary Mass, scheduled for Sunday at 11:30 a.m. at St. George, 6707 West 175th Street. The resolution and in-meeting remarks framed the recognition as ceremonial appreciation rather than policy action.
