City council approves $80,000 in Neighborhood Partners Fund grants for 17 projects

The Las Vegas City Council voted to approve Neighborhood Partners Fund (NPF) board recommendations to allocate $80,000 to 17 neighborhood projects for fiscal year 2026–27.
Selia Barahas, director of Neighborhood Services, introduced the program and explained it matches city funding with volunteer labor and in-kind contributions from neighborhood associations. "This program helps build community by supporting the volunteer efforts of the associations," Barahas said.
Board chair Elizabeth Becker described the evaluation process and thanked staff and volunteers for outreach and application review. Vice chair Matthew presented the specific awards, citing sample amounts and categories: eight neighborhood improvement projects, four public safety projects, and seven engagement projects. Examples presented included $7,400 for Grand Entries Neighborhood Association, $6,400 for Rock Springs Vista 3 Homeowners Association, $6,000 awards to several associations, and smaller awards down to $2,200 for Palomino Gardens Homeowner Association. Matthew stated the grand total is $80,000 and reported a total match figure as presented by the board.
Councilmembers thanked the board and staff for evaluating applications; a motion to approve the recommendations carried on a council vote.
What happens next: Funds will be disbursed per the board’s schedule and recipients are expected to provide the volunteer and in-kind match described in their applications.
