The Flat Rock-Hawcreek School Corp board approved several personnel actions and honored a longtime staff member during its meeting.
The board recognized monitor instructional assistant Sandy Thompson for 21 years of service to the district. The recognition was presented to the board and accepted as part of the personnel report.
Director Kyle Ships recommended hiring Derek Baker as the junior high softball coach for the 2627 season, saying, "I recommend the board to hire Derek Baker as a junior high softball coach." The board moved and approved the hire by voice vote.
The board also approved several summer employment agreements tied to extracurricular and facilities work. The director presented agreements for an activity director and for the girls basketball summer program, recommending Matt Lsworth for the activity-director role; those agreements were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. A summer employment agreement for Randy Bruner to maintain the softball diamond was approved after a motion identified as coming from Andy Bruner. The board likewise approved a summer agreement for Mike Flack to maintain the Hunter baseball diamond.
The personnel report concluded after the approvals. A separate agenda item involving vendor quotes was tabled for the next meeting so staff can clarify proposals before the board acts.
