John Swift, owner and operator of Mugshots, requested a June 13 event to benefit three families and described planned activities including a silent and live auction, outdoor music and a designated beer area. He said the group asked permission for an extension of the patio and a temporary exception to the city's open-container ordinance for beer consumption between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
City staff confirmed the open-container request is governed by a local ordinance exemption for outdoor festivals. Swift said he will supply trash cans and metal barricades and has discussed safety logistics with Fire Marshal Jason (surname reported in the meeting). Alderman Dickerson moved to approve the one-time event and the open-container waiver; Miss Aldridge seconded and the motion carried.
Board members wished the event success and noted any recurring or expanded events would require separate approvals.
