Staff briefed the board on a proposed resolution authorizing the hiring of special counsel to represent participating municipalities in a Con Edison rate case. A member of staff said Con Edison is seeking another increase, described as about 18 percent, and the plan would join numerous Westchester municipalities and the county; the proposal calls for a $5,000 participation fee per municipality.
Board members noted the effort requires a critical mass of municipalities to be effective and that participating communities would each pay the fee. The resolution was listed for the regular meeting.
Later in the work session, Trustee S2 moved to enter executive session under section 105(h) to discuss the proposed acquisition, sale or lease of real property when publicity would substantially affect value; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
