Board approves several personnel appointments and accepts donations

Personnel: Board action approved new administrative appointments presented by HR and cabinet staff, including an assistant principal at Shadow Mountain High School, a coordinator of volunteers, an assistant director of transportation, a director of professional development and a director of student services (secondary). Each appointment was presented with candidate qualifications and approved by voice vote.
Donations: The board accepted monetary and in-kind gifts from district partners and individuals. Notable gifts included a $10,000 donation from Project Lead The Way for an engineering program expansion at Desert Shadows Middle School and multiple smaller contributions for field trips, student incentives and equipment. The board thanked donors and approved acceptance of the gifts unanimously.
Administrative follow-up: HR will finalize employment paperwork consistent with applicable bargaining agreements and the finance office will acknowledge and process donations as presented.
