Technology Committee approves two IT contracts for phone maintenance and VMware licensing

The DuPage County Technology Committee on June 2 approved two procurement contracts for the county’s information-technology operations.
The committee approved TEP-0009-26, a contract purchase order to Telcom Innovations Group LLC for annual maintenance of the county phone system from Aug. 8, 2026, through Aug. 7, 2027, for a total of $95,559.04. Staff said the vendor had not raised prices for five years, but "they were forced to by Sourcewell, so they've gone up by 8%" and that the vendor was acquired by Boyd Network; staff said the contract terms otherwise remain the same and that the agreement will return to the committee to reflect the new vendor name.
The committee also approved TEP-0010-26, a contract purchase order to SHI International Corp. for VMware licensing for the period July 17, 2026, through July 16, 2029, for $610,099.20. Staff described virtualization as a cost-saving measure compared with buying physical servers, saying "we can manage 20 servers that have 100 virtual servers on them" and noting the vendor's licensing restructure pushed up costs by about 20%.
Both measures passed on voice votes; the minutes record the motions, seconds and a voice endorsement but do not include a roll-call tally of individual yes/no votes.
What happens next: staff said the Telcom Innovations item will return in August with the updated vendor name after the Boyd Network acquisition is reflected in contract documents. The VMware licensing contract will be executed per the approved term dates.
