Council cited a lack of complaints and steady, orderly management of the municipal court as reasons for reappointment. Jeffcoat, who told the council he has served as a judge for 24 years, thanked members and said his years in Lexington have been his favorite.
Under South Carolina law the council appoints municipal judges to terms of between two and four years; the council set a new three-year term for Judge Jeffcoat. The appointment carries no immediate fiscal change beyond incorporation of the judge's compensation in the town’s operating budget.
