Town manager: MDOT plans more than $7 million in Arundel projects in 2027

The Arundel town manager told the select board on Feb. 24 that the Maine Department of Transportation has scheduled multiple projects in and around Arundel for 2027 with combined estimated costs of more than $7 million.
The manager said MDOT’s list includes a realignment and sight‑line improvement at Log Cabin Road and Old Post Road with an estimated cost of about $1.5 million and a Downing Road bridge project estimated at roughly $3 million. He also said MDOT is planning turn‑lane and visibility improvements at the Thompson Road–Troutbrook Road intersection with an estimated cost just over $1 million and a traffic‑signal/turn‑lane project at Route 111 and Limmerch/Limick Road estimated at about $1.3 million.
“Based on the report they’ve provided to us, 2027 is going to be a banner year for the town of Arundel in terms of projects by MDOT,” the manager said. He added that staff had been asked for documentation related to the Route 111 projects and that the town would prioritize certain intersections for its own input.
Separately, the manager said the town expects to post seasonal road restrictions starting Thursday, Feb. 26, and urged vendors and motorists to be aware of the schedule. The projects remain subject to MDOT scheduling and funding decisions; the manager said the list represents MDOT’s current plan as shared with town staff.
