Insurance carrier Travelers required an inspection of the Shenorock Dam. The board received three quotes and approved the lowest bid from Barton & Loguidice for $10,000 to perform the inspection.
The board authorized the supervisor to sign on to an AED grant program (noted in the meeting as provided by the Hope Heart/Happy Heart Foundation with assistance from Millennium and Sergeant Burpee) that would supply two AED machines at no upfront cost; members discussed training needs and said police, fire and athletic coaches would require instruction if AEDs are deployed.
Phil Collis, the town’s water and sewer superintendent (via memo), requested an extension of Frederick McQuillan’s part‑time consulting role to continue billing and accounting support for the water department. The board approved a six‑month extension for McQuillan at $40 per hour for two days per week (16 hours) to free field staff for infrastructure work.
On the Kegel House — the on‑site caretaker residence at Kegel Park — departmental reviews from police, parks and building staff recommended retaining the home to provide consistent on‑site presence, deter vandalism and manage park operations. The board approved allocating up to $100,000 for needed work including a new roof, siding and some electrical and plumbing fixes; members asked staff to provide an itemized estimate and proceed to bid.
Other approved items included temporary three‑way stop signs at Lovell Street and Westridge Drive (July 1–Sept. 15) to address traffic during the DOT culvert project, approval of a change order form related to Carney Realty, authorization to hire seasonal Parks & Rec day‑camp staff, replacement of a recreation office copier via a New York State contract, hiring of full‑time and part‑time Parks staff, and several board and committee appointments (Damien DeSantis and Rick Bolander to the Planning Board; Jennifer Koskausky to the Energy & Environmental Committee; Cato Keith to the Assessment Board of Review).
