Zephyrhills unveils 3,000 new 65‑gallon recycling carts; phased delivery set for April–May

Public Works Director Shane LeBlanc and newly promoted Sanitation Superintendent Daquan Anderson unveiled a fleet of 3,000 new 65‑gallon recycling carts for the city’s curbside program and announced a phased delivery and conversion schedule.
City staff said roughly 2,000 existing recycling customers will automatically receive carts and additional carts will be provided on request through a service request portal. Deliveries of carts will occur by neighborhood on April 18 and 25 (Monday/Thursday routes) and May 2 and 9 (Tuesday/Friday routes). The automated collection schedule will take effect starting May 13; at that time the city will stop collecting loose 18‑gallon bins.
LeBlanc explained expected benefits: lidged carts protect cardboard from rain (wet cardboard often contaminates loads), improve collection efficiency with an automated arm, and reduce roadside clutter. Door hangers and an online map will show delivery dates; staff emphasized tagging and not collecting contaminated or open carts to educate residents.
Councilmembers congratulated Daquan Anderson on his promotion and asked staff to communicate clearly to seniors and other residents who may need operational help. Staff said customer service will accept requests and provide assistance as needed.
