The Clarksville Community School Board unanimously approved a package of personnel actions that included the appointment of Michael Fitzgerald as athletic director in training and a July 20, 2026, start date as K'12 athletic director.
Dr. Bennett presented the personnel report and described multiple items for the board's approval: administrative transfers (a CES assistant-principal move to RELA Renaissance Early Learning Academy), the resignation of a special-education teacher, certified and classified appointments, and an accounts-payable clerk's weekly hours being adjusted from 24 to 15'19. After a motion and second, the board voted in favor of the report.
Fitzgerald addressed the board briefly after the vote. "Definitely excited for the opportunity," he said, adding he was "very thankful" and looking forward to supporting student athletes.
The board also approved a one-time $5,000 stipend for the director-in-training to compensate for specific June and July dates of work. Dr. Bennett outlined the dates covered by the stipend (several blocks in June and July) and said the position will transition to official duties on July 20, 2026.
Other personnel actions approved that evening included recommended nursing transfers (Katie Libert to lead nurse for CCSC; Linda Hall to school nurse for CES and RELA) and the appointment of Michael Fitzgerald pending final approvals. The board recorded each item by voice vote and indicated unanimous consent.
Next steps: the district will complete any outstanding documentation required for the new athletic director's formal hire and the one-time stipend will be processed per the board-approved schedule.
