Robbie Sami, deputy director of the CRA, said the reimbursement request represents roughly 10% of the business’s planned investment of about $700,000 and that the grant program is tailored case‑by‑case. Sami said the CRA has administrative authority for grants of $20,000 or less and that larger requests are brought to the board for final approval.
Applicant Max Aayub told commissioners 2/12 Bagel is a family‑owned concept relocating from Brooklyn to Clematis Street with an 1,800‑sq‑ft space focused on production and retail; staff estimated the project will create about 20 jobs within two years and an estimated economic impact between $1.2 million and $2.0 million. Max said demolition is complete and the team expects to be open by September, pending permits.
Commissioner Fox moved to approve Resolution 26‑12 and the motion carried unanimously.
