Waxaw delegates report lot sale, small-unit economic-development project reopens after lease dispute

Delegates also described a temporary closure tied to a lease dispute. According to the report, the property owner’s attorney said the town needed a lease agreement for the lot because of liability concerns; when three town commissioners were unavailable for a July meeting and the body lacked a quorum the lease vote could not be taken and the owner temporarily closed the lot and tenant access. The delegate said the issue has since been resolved and the lot is open again.
The report did not specify the developer’s name, the lease terms, or the schedule and permitting timeline for the construction. Delegates said the town expects the project to add sidewalks and street-parking improvements and that those upgrades were a factor in approving the economic-development sale.
