Commissioners authorize planning for new judicial building and separate administration building

Chairman Dan McCranie presided as the Dodge County Board of Commissioners voted to move forward with a major courthouse project on Monday.

Commissioner Brian Watkins moved to proceed with option 4 from the Parrish Construction Feasibility Pricing Comparison report, which calls for a judicial building at the location of the old jails and a separate administration building, and to authorize Parrish Construction to prepare blueprints and a cost analysis. Commissioner Jeffrey Jones seconded the motion. "All voted in favor," and the motion passed unanimously.

The board did not adopt final construction contracts or a budget at the meeting; commissioners authorized only planning and further cost analysis so the county can refine project estimates and designs. Manager Conner Bearden and county attorneys were present for the discussion but did not make separate motions on the record.
