Weddington updates: finances, code enforcement and pending developments

The Weddington Town Council received routine staff reports on code enforcement, finances and planning matters.
Leslie presented monthly financial statements and noted more than $200,000 in miscellaneous revenues, described as reimbursements, and provided updates on state grants. Leslie also said the town’s FY2025 audit was submitted to the Local Government Commission on Jan. 31 and is awaiting approval; the auditor will present financial statements to the council after the commission’s review.
Staff reported ongoing code enforcement activity, that one property is subject to fee/fine collection and that a report from the code officer is included in the council packet; a fuller update was deferred until the officer returns from illness.
On planning, the Town Planner/Town Administrator outlined major pending developments expected to come before the council: Windsor Farms (a subdivision near the water tower), Deal Lake (a Toll Brothers development on Weddington Road), and a Providence Road proposal for a golf-course conditional use that will be the subject of a community meeting. Staff also noted other pending projects — Rama Center on New Town Road, a Ray Road corner property with stalled activity, an AR subdivision pending sewer/septic questions and a possible amendment request from Beckingham Estates on stormwater facilities — that may return to the council as applications or amendments.
No formal votes were recorded on these items during the meeting; staff will continue to track applications, address outstanding technical issues (for example sewer/septic), and schedule public meetings as required.
