The Yadkin County Board on March 2 authorized the County Manager to negotiate a contract with Engineering Tower Solutions (ETS) to provide development services for a proposed 30-foot radio tower adjacent to the new Emergency Communications Center.
County staff presented an ETS quote based on State Contract pricing with a not-to-exceed figure of $69,200; staff explained the quote includes a conservative allowance for potential permits (FAA, FCC, Town of Yadkinville) and up to three site visits so the vendor would not need to return to the Board for additional funds if contingencies arise. Communications Director Dylan Zachary said he expected some quoted permit work might not be required because the tower will likely be lower than thresholds that trigger FAA review.
The Board voted 5-0 to select ETS and authorized the County Manager to negotiate terms. County staff said the ETS team is already working on another Yadkin County tower project and that using the same vendor could keep both tower projects moving simultaneously.
Negotiation of a final contract and project schedule are next steps; the transcript does not provide a finalized contract value or timeline.
