County VSO reports VA fraud‑review tool, app and 24/7 nurse triage; training scheduled

At the Clayton County Veterans’ Affairs meeting on May 11, 2026, Veterans Service Officer Jordan summarized multiple updates from the Department of Veterans Affairs and federal policy changes that may affect veterans locally.

Jordan said the VA is developing a fraud review tool that will examine patterns in new disability claims to flag potential fraudulent filings; the agency has stated the tool will be used to review new claims and not to reopen or reexamine past claims. Jordan described the tool as relying on data analysis to detect patterns such as inconsistent forms or altered provider information.

Jordan also noted a VA mobile application update that allows veterans with an active Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for a VA home loan to view their active COE via the app; veterans without an active COE will need to work with their mortgage lender or use VA.gov. The commission heard that VA Health Connect offers 24/7 access to a registered nurse for triage, appointment scheduling support, pharmacy help and virtual care options; veterans access the service by calling their local VA medical facility and selecting the nurse option.

On federal policy, the minutes record that changes in recent defense policy legislation are expected to implement automatic Selective Service registration for males ages 18–25 by December; the minutes note women are not required to register. Jordan and commissioners also reviewed upcoming training: a local VSO training (May 5–7) and national training (May 31–June 5) that will complete Jordan’s annual required training.
