Lincoln County commissioners back tourism grant support for Heritage Museum

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 10 approved a letter urging the Montana Tourism Development Grant Review Committee to favor the Heritage Museum’s grant application.
The board’s letter describes projects including restoration of an early 1900s steam locomotive and creation of a logging-history exhibit intended to boost visitation and economic activity in Lincoln County. A museum representative told the commissioners the museum’s feasibility study will be posted online this week.
The museum’s proposal, the letter says, “exemplify the spirit of partnership,” combining resources among local organizations to preserve cultural heritage while promoting economic development. Commissioners framed the board’s endorsement as a routine expression of county support for local economic and cultural initiatives.
A motion to sign the support letter passed without public opposition; staff said they will provide the museum a signed copy. Sheri Turner, the Heritage Museum representative, thanked the board and encouraged joint pursuit of other related grants and projects.
The board will deliver the signed letter to the applicants and file copies with the county records; no vote on grant acceptance or matching funds was taken at the meeting.
