Residents press Irondale council on property maintenance and traffic safety

Denise Wright of 2135th Terrace South urged the council to enforce previous abatement orders for a fire-damaged property at 232 20th Street. Wright told the council the owner was previously given 90 days to address the property, but ‘‘nothing has been done’’ and the yard has been cut only intermittently. She named city staff she said had been involved and asked the council to ensure the abatement is completed.
Teresa Green thanked the police for prompt removal of a downed tree limb during bad weather and asked the council to send officers to monitor a roundabout approach where drivers repeatedly fail to yield. She said the lane configurations and non-yielding drivers create a regular hazard and asked for extra patrol presence at peak times.
Council members acknowledged the comments; no formal motions followed during the public-comment period. The concerns are routine municipal issues that typically require follow-up by code enforcement and the police department.
